For many of you, there will be the egoic impulse to obsess with either avoidance tools or beoming totally immersed in the ideas presented here and in the video.  Please be aware of these impulses if they arise and choose balance: handling what is in front of you and taking time for nurturing your deeper self.

Consider that in the process of shifting, which is also the process of reconditioning yourself, the very same mechanism that is central to the tools that people call propaganda and indoctrination can be very successfully employed on your own self: repetition.  This applies to music and spoken word recordings as well as power statements and other belief statements that you can refine and repeat, including those found in my books and on the Quick Retreats CD.

In many cases, the more senses and modalities that are involved in a spiritual practice, the more potential power it will have.  Consider burning incense or putting a drop of your favorite aromatic essential oil on the bridge of your nose when listening to the healing sounds.

One last idea for you here: Send loving energy to all the world, including the sick, the homeless and those emotionally challenged.  Please remember to include the so-called "bad guys": the corrupt, the greedy, those who want to dominate us.  Let's drop the role of mimicing the schizophrenic "god" who would damn anybody.

In the coming era of harmony, our responses to everything will be loving.  Are you willing to visualize such a world?

During times of massive change, when we are all being challenged to wake up, there are some useful inspirations that I feel compelled to share.  Last week, a very gifted astrologer friend who prefers to remain anonymous, sent the following my way.

The greatest revolution in human history begins March 11th, 2011 with the planet Uranus’ entrance into the constellation of Aries.  This is a pinnacle moment in human history that will come to be known as the Revolution of Consciousness.  Unlike revolutions of old, this revolution will be centered in the hearts and minds of the men, women, and children that inhabit the planet Earth.  What is about to unfold is nothing less than the most brilliant period of not only our lifetimes, but of all lifetimes - and it starts in just a few short weeks!

I must warn that this astrological movement also signals the beginning of the greatest amount of political and economic turmoil the world has ever known.  As a revolutionary spirit inflames the globe, we will experience wide-spread instability, manifesting in a variety of ways.  The newly awakened society will begin to revolt in such massive ways that they will absolutely cripple “the system.”  First World nations will be swept with peaceful protests, sit-ins, and demonstrations while Third World nations will erupt with war-like violence.  The world over, corrupt government agendas will come to a screeching halt by the will of the people.

Within the first year of this transit as people begin to awaken, it will become understood that the extraterrestrial elements that have been embedded deep in human society haven’t been playing a positive role in our evolution as a civilization.  This understanding will kindle a united, warrior-like attitude among global citizens that will serve as the most important driving factor in the coming revolution.  Make no mistake that the power structure of Earth is currently “operating from the shadows”, but that the time of their authority has expired by Divine Decree and in perfect timing with Cosmic Order.

Intervention has and will continue to happen in strategic, surgical strikes that will ultimately lead to their defeat.  This battle will be most intense during the summer months of 2012 as the planet Uranus squares the planet Pluto.  By winter of 2012, it will become clear that humanity is free, finally, after thousands of years of manipulations.  After December 21st, 2012, as many of the world’s most infamous prophecies come to a crossroads, mankind’s Golden Age will finally commence.

An aspect of astrology that I find absolutely beautiful is that as events happen on a global or macrocosmic level, they also happen on a personal, microcosmic level – in exact synchronicity.  This upcoming Uranus transit is no different, and soon we will all be going through our own personal revolutions, albeit in unique ways, all in accordance with God’s Divine Plan for each of us.  This is where the Sacred Science of Astrology can enlighten so brilliantly; it can identify the source and the expression of the coming revolutions in our lives, with mind-boggling accuracy.

This personal revolution, which will manifest for many as the development of extraordinary, even Biblical-level spiritual and metaphysical gifts, will be the answer to all our present and future problems.  It is up to each of us to totally embrace the shocking changes in order to fulfill our destinies in the coming global revolution.  Those who succumb to fear and resist these changes will do so at their own peril.  Those who embrace the changes will skyrocket to prominence and success.  This can be a very frightening thought to entertain, which brings me to the significance of Uranus being in the constellation of Aries, the archetype of the warrior.

In Astrology, attunement to archetypal energies is an extremely important concept to understand and integrate.  In simplistic terms, one must “vibe” with the virtues of the sign to manifest the greatest outcomes of the transit or placement.  With Uranus being in Aries, we can manifest magnificence in our lives by cultivating and expressing bravery, confidence, fearlessness, independence, and novelty in the area of our life (and natal chart) where Aries energy lies.  This is a time where a warrior will be born in all of us, though it’s up to us to decide what to do with this new energy.

As this fiery, Uranian energy blasts through the collective consciousness, the values of people will be changed and elevated in an instant.  The lust for the trivial will be transmuted into the yearning for spiritual and metaphysical talents.  Materialism will be replaced by spiritualism.  The so-called celebrities of today will fade into obscurity as a new breed of celebrities, deriving their power from spiritual development and humanitarian passion will be catapulted into the limelight.  These will be the heroes and heroines of the New Age that is being birthed before our eyes.

The Big Shift

It is going to happen in March, some wise ones say between the 9th and
the 15th.  Lines will be drawn as those of differing approaches to
the events of this time will unite more of us with each other.

Something is going to happen that is intended to be a wake up call, one
impossible to ignore, one that you will not be able to deal with by
distracting yourself.  You will either wake up or you will perish clinging to                                                                                        the old ways that never worked.

Some will view these events as the beginning of the destructive apocalypse.
Others, myself included, will see them as a natural part of our communal
cleansing, a preparation for times of extreme harmony that is to come, and

As I prepared to write this article, I walked out into the night to see the
starry sky.  Waiting there was the incredibly affectionate and playful dog
that I have been tending to for the last couple of weeks.  The dog just soaks
up affection, radiates happiness.  She has shown great joy in running for and
fetching a stuffed squirrel that is constantly loaded  with this dog's saliva.

I could see that she wanted to play.  So I sat down, whereupon she jumped up in
my lap, no small feat for a dog of 50 pounds.  I was ready to pet her, but she
had this gooey squirrel in her mouth, shaking it in my face.  And she didn't seem
to understand that I was not too keen on dealing with this little display.

The more I tried to put away the gooey mess of a toy, the more eager she seemed                                                                        to present me with it.  Finally, I surrendered.

If I want the joy that comes with petting a a sweet dog or a sweet woman or
a sweet cat, sometimes I get to love and accept things about them that are less than                                                         
outwardly attractive.

Life is about accepting everything that happens to us, and being grateful for it.                                                         
Everything and everyone is our teacher.  That is a tough one to get for some  some                                                                 
people, but maybe one of life's most valuable lessons.

Some well-educated folks think that this event early next month is going to be one
or both of these: The announcements world-wide that there is extra-terrestrial
presence on our planet.  The other possibility foreseen is that the world-wide
financial markets will go into complete collapse.  

There are also some who are predicting that there will be major geophysical
upheaval: floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions.

What I would ask you to consider is whether it makes a lot of sense trying
to guess which of these it might be.  

It boils down once again to the simplicity of living this spiritually profitable
way of life: Loving what is and trusting what is to come.

This is the ultimately simple solution to all that appears to ail us.

How do we identify ourselves spiritually and religiously?  Most importantly, does this identification match up with the way we live our lives?  The process of spiritual empowerment has much to do with how we answer these questions.

It has come to light recently that the Catholic Church has begun using Facebook in an effort to recruit potential priests to its fold.  Their slogan in this effort is “Why Not Me?”

Let’s look at some potential answers to that question, not only for those who might be considering a religious vocation of any kind, but from the perspective of one who may be questioning religious labels by which we identify ourselves.

From the outset, let me be clear that my premise in this article is that the vast majority of all religion as we practice it in our world at this time is spiritually counter-productive.  If we are, indeed, in the process of communally evolving into a more harmonious and loving planet, then the purpose of any worthy religion would be to lovingly unite and empower us.  Most religion divides and weakens us, casting non-believers as inferior, seeing proponents as superior and falsely creating a god that is schizophrenically both all-loving and quite wrathful.

Religion as we know it today is dying, and with good reason.  People’s allegiance to religion is the cause of more death, pain and suffering than any other social cause.  It has been the central cause of most wars and persecution.

Why do we identify ourselves with any particular religion?

Why We Continue With a Current Religious Identification

For the most part, there are three reasons that any reasonably intelligent people stick with a religion in which they were raised.

(1)Fear of Eternal Damnation or Extended Time in Some Purgatory

In the months leading up to the passing of my mother last year, my father experienced much emotional challenge as she descended into dementia, still holding on to half a lifetime of resentment and anger.  For well over a year, she was continually embarrassed about her “bladder problems” and had little interest or capacity for communicating with anyone.  She had stopped eating anything except ice cream and crackers.

The doctors put her on appetite stimulants.  It seemed to work.  She was eating better and putting some weight back on.  Yet, she was “vacant” almost all of the time.

After months in this semi-vegetative state, her doctor approached my Dad and suggested he might consider taking her off the appetite stimulants as a way of letting her go.  He and I talked about it.  He was going to think about it.   Soon after, we talked again.

“I would feel guilty for the rest of my life if she died after the medication was stopped”, he said.

It was his decision to make, yet I was compelled to explore:  “Dad, you know that the whole guilt thing and the eternal damnation stuff that your church puts out is a bunch of crap, don’t you?”

His response, “Well, yeah, but what if it isn’t?”

This is the kind of thinking so many religious people carry like a weight around their shoulders.  For fear of frying in eternal fires, we live a life that makes it fine to shoot a horse to save it from pain, let we cannot let our people die a natural death.  Such thinking is simply ignorant.

(2) Fear of Rejection by Family or Peers

High up on the Fear Meter along with eternal damnation is the prospect of being disowned by family or friends.  If all your family and friends identify themselves with a given religion, you risk their rejection if you decide that the religion does not really work for you.

Maybe you’ll continue to go to church, temple or synagogue on the weekend, but outside of that little show, you don’t really practice the religion, live it.  This is a most destructive and prevalent example of cowardice.

Maybe you have agonized over the conflict, figuring that you will stick with the religion you have until your parents have passed, sparing them the disappointment of your “betrayal”.  You are willing to wear a false mask in the name of family peace and harmony, all the while realizing that you are not being true to yourself.

This appears to be a major factor in, for example, France.  While 41.6 million of France's 65 million population identifies itself as Catholic, only about 2 million attend church each week, according to Jacques Carton of the Bishops Conference in France.  In the United States, the numbers are not so striking, apparently due in large part to the fact that our society here is much more focused on appearances and guilt.

(3) Laziness or Simple Distraction

In lives that seem to be more and more filled with financial challenge, responsibilities and daily pressures on many levels, it’s easy to forget the spiritual aspects of our lives.  Given the oxyomoronic nature of most religion---the fact that it is literally anti-spiritual---it can easily be just another item on your list of things that pull you in two different directions at the same time.  When it comes to making a change in how you see your religion, your mind tells you that there are more important things to deal with, so you sit with the status quo.

You have got other things on your mind, and at least your religion lets you fit in and also feel morally superior to other people, so long as you think about it selfishly, without much compassion.

We are living in a world of change at increasing speed.  For many of us, it is a time in which we are being challenged to shed the old ways of thinking that have not worked for us.  For many, this is the step now being faced in finding true spiritual empowerment.  Is it what you are being challenged to deal with in your process of enlightenment?

Non-religious self-reliance: It's a mouthful you do not hear much.  We have not been taught to rely upon ourselves but upon institutions that do not want us thinking for ourselves.  Please explore within yourself whether it is time to let go of your religion, time to ask, "Why not me?" when figuring out who should be responsible for your own beliefs?  Isn't this what "The Shift" is really all about--trusting our own loving power?
